Our
Volunteers
From the first moment a visitor enters the Island Community
Center, volunteers play a crucial role in our ability to
provide quality services to the Deer Isle-Stonington communities.
As a result the Island Community Center has a variety of
volunteer opportunities available to members of the public.
And because the range of volunteer opportunities available
is so large, we need all kinds of people who can do all
kinds of things! Regardless of your age, chances are we
have a volunteer activity just right for you.
Some of our volunteers love working with people, so they
help us at summer camp or during senior citizen events and
activities. Others may putter around the house repairing
things, so we'll use them for maintenance and repairs throughout
our aging building. And still others who prefer to, will
work on their computers at home and help keep our website
current. We have many other volunteer opportunities to choose
from!
We have been fortunate to receive a lot of volunteer help.
In fact, during 2005 the Island Community Center board donated
2,576 hours of logged volunteer time and received 472 hours
from community members.
How do I become a volunteer?
The first step in volunteering is to stop by our center
and visit with our executive Director. As our hours vary,
please call ahead at 367-2735.
