The Senior Program is one of the most successful
programs that the Island Community Center offers. Each Tuesday,
from 9am-noon local senior citizen’s gather and it
usually involves a pool game or two and definitely a card
game.
Other activities that seniors participate in are the Widow
and Widowers group, monthly dining out experiences and dance
lessons.Throughout the year, seniors volunteer at the center
in numerous ways, most notably as wise mentors to some of
our youngsters.
The Island Community Center strives to provide educational
resources to our seniors throughout the year. It is not
uncommon to have representatives from all over the state
visiting to address concerns and answer questions. They
include the Eastern Area Agency on Aging and the State Fuel
Assistance Program.
